Where Classical Meets Pop

Assignment:

To create branding, a poster design, merchandise, and tickets for a music festival that merges two ideas.

Overview:

As a violinist of 15 years, my life has been heavily influenced by classical music. My technical background in music means I have an ear for the classics and can immediately hear when artists sample classical pieces and use real instruments in their songs. This inspired me to make a concert I would immediately buy tickets for - one that merges modern pop and electronic music with classical orchestral music.

I started by collecting style inspiration from Electronic Dance Music (EDM) concerts, symbols from DJ setups, and taking note of what aspects blended well with a conductor and orchestra performing in a concert hall. From there I built a list of musicians and researched beyond my music library to find artists that would fit within this Classical Crossover genre.

Contents:

  • Poster Design

  • Apparel Mockups

  • Temporary Tattoo Mockups

  • Ticket Mockups.

Branding Statement

The Classical Crossover music festival is an annual event held at Discovery Green in Downtown Houston, TX.

We’ve partnered with the Houston Symphony to give you a truly blended experience of classical and electronic music. You’ll hear some of your favorite artists with their pop vocals and synthetic beats supported by traditional string tones and classical accompaniments.
